Outcomes
Tools & Materials
- CAD software or grid paper
Activity
Sometimes efficiency is found in the introduction of supporting systems. In the garden, there are tools that make seeding more efficient than doing it by hand. When it’s time to harvest, there are tools that make short work of it.
In the Lab, there are countless ways to streamline the operation and bring more efficiency to the process. Automation is often used for watering, lighting, and testing.
But one of the most repeated and time intensive activities is transplanting young starts into the ZipGrow towers. Automating the process would produce the most efficient outcome but that may not be financially feasible. So how can the transplanting process be made more efficient without full automation?
Design and build a planting table that makes it easier to stabilize the towers so that the medium can be pulled out and replanted more efficiently.
