Lesson Overview

A seed is a perfectly orchestrated packet, capable of producing life all on it owns. Removing any one element of the seed will affect its viability. This lesson asks students to prove this through experimentation.

Teach the Teacher

Method

All parts of a seed work together. A mature plant can survive the loss of root structure, leaves or even a few branches.

How would the removal of any one part of the seed’s anatomy affect its development? Would the sprout be unscathed, experience stunted growth, or perhaps expire altogether?

Develop a hypothesis, or perhaps set of hypotheses, and then prove through experimentation.
