Lesson Overview

Hydroponics allows for mono-cropping because the nutrient solution is under constant monitoring and adjustment. In this lesson, students will evaluate the annual revenue potential of numerous varieties in order to determine the most lucrative.

Method

Using the Bright Agrotech Recommended Crop List, determine which variety (or few varieties) would produce the maximum annual yield in terms of gross weight. Keep in mind, some varieties take longer to mature than others.

Which variety (or few varieties) would yield the highest price at market? Assuming 10 plants per tower, and considering the time from transplant to harvest and price per unit for each variety, which one would produce the most annual revenue if you grew it exclusively?
