Grow Time
Lesson Overview
Method
Using a Sprout and Grow Window or custom made version (like an ant farm), have the students create a living display of the growing process for observation. Students may experiment with varying soil profiles, light sources or nutrients and visually document the surface and subsurface development of the plants.
Based on collected data, what conclusions can be drawn about how environmental conditions affect plant development?
Consider using locally sourced natural soil profiles in the build. Will certain plants grow better in certain soil profiles? Observe the development of the plants over time and record your observations and any conclusions you can draw from the experience.
