Lesson Overview

The need to replace a dead plant with a new flourishing plug is commonplace in the Lab. And being able to do so without removing the tower would be a time saver. In this lesson, students will design a tool to do just that.

Method

The process of removing a harvest tower from the set and turning it by transplanting new starts takes time. Using the planting table, the full turn should take less than 5 minutes.

But what if you didn’t have to remove the tower each time you turned plants? What if the towers could be transplanted without removing them from the gutters?

Design a tool that would allow plugs to be inserted without removing the entire medium.
