Food Desert

Method
So often, necessity is the mother of invention, as the old saying goes. Ingenuity has a tendency to satisfy needs and vertical farming is a perfect example of just how urban communities have answered the call for locally and sustainably grown produce.
Discuss the merits of hydroponics as a means to solve the food desert issue. In the absence of grocery stores or local farms to serve the needs of the community, who might be best suited to take on the task of producing food hydroponically in food deserts?
