Busy Bees
Lesson Overview
Method
Plants are either self-pollinators or cross-pollinators. Insects are vital to the cross-pollination process and this would include the work of bees.
However, bee populations have been threatened worldwide in the last decade and their absence could prove catastrophic to food production worldwide.
What will happen if bees are no longer there to perform the function of pollination? Manual pollination methods are used in the Lab but how could that be scaled to feed the world?
